What If It All Goes RIGHT?

INSIGHTS AND INSPIRATION FROM MENDHI AUDLIN

What if you CONQUER self-doubt?

When is the last time you honestly listened to the voice in your head? What was it telling you? Is your self-talk kind and empowering? Or critical and afraid?

The holiday season can easily trigger self-doubt.  For some, it's the result of being around family members who see in you all the limitations of your past.  Or perhaps it happens as you review your goals for the year and notice where you have fallen short of your intentions?

This week, we step into the...

What if we slow down??

The Sufi poet Rumi reminds us:
"The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear."

December carries with her the call to slow down, to reflect, and to listen deeply. What if, despite all the demands of the holiday season, we take the time to step away from our busy-ness and listen to the call of our hearts?

  • What if, the quieter we become, the more we are able to identify the daily actions that bring us joy and peace?
  • What if, the quieter we become, the easier it is to...

The Healing Power of Gratitude

I'm in Texas today.  Mom is in the kitchen preparing the turkey. Dad is in the living room listening to my daughter practice Christmas carols on her violin.

Tomorrow, my childhood home will be filled once again with brothers and sisters, cousins and in-laws, representing different areas of the country, different political views, and different faith traditions.

Thanksgiving can be, for some, a recipe for disaster. But what if we hold tight to the core intent of...

The Greatest Gifts...

With the holidays just around the corner, you may already be feeling the impending stress of the season.

Did you know that here in the United States, 48 million people are still paying off credit card debt from the 2018 holiday season?  And, on average, this year our holiday budgets are even bigger than they were last year.

Imagine: What if there's another way?

What if, this holiday season, we begin by grounding ourselves in the value of intangible things: ...

What if we become UNSTOPPABLE?

We all know people who have great ideas, right? How many of those people follow through to turn those ideas into reality?

In working with people for over 20 years using the "What If UP" tools, I've found 5 areas where people get stuck:

1)  They don’t know what they want to do.

2) They know what they want to do, but don't believe it's possible.

3) They know what they want to do, but don't believe it's possible for them.

4) They know what they want to do,  but...

What if we mobilize the middle?

Sometimes it seems as if we are living in a time of extremes.  Polarization.  People donned in the jerseys of "Team Us"  and "Team Them."

What if the reality of our world is actually different from what we see?  What if the majority of us are not at the extremes?  What if most of us are somewhere in the middle?

What if the only reason we perceive such division is because those at the extremes are louder than the majority of us in...

A light in the darkness...

A tragedy has impacted my little town in Colorado. Teen suicide has become the leading cause of death for people in our state between the ages of 10 and 24 with over 500 young people per year choosing to end their lives.

Last night, our community grieved another loss.  Following the memorial service, members of our small town lined up along Main Street with candles in hand.

Our intent was to send a message to the young people in our community: You are not...

What if you could strengthen your resilience?

As you may know, each month I connect live with our What If UP Club Online for an hour of teaching, sharing, coaching & encouragement. Last night's call was a powerful one.  Our focus:

resilience (noun). The capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness.

It's a life skill we all need from time to time.  Wikipedia specifically defines "psychological resilience" as "the ability to cope with a crisis or to return to pre-crisis status quickly."

It...

Getting to Know YOU!

Here's what I've noticed this week:

It doesn't matter how vast our differences may seem, when we take the time to get to know and understand each other, the space between us seems to melt away.

What if, this week, we focus our attention on getting to know each other a little better?

Consider the possibilities...
What if you spend a little time each day with your kids, your partner, your family, your neighbors, your friends, or your coworkers with the sole purpose of getting to know them a...

When You're Down and Troubled...

The words are by Carole King. You may know it best in the harmonious voice of James Taylor.  The message is universal. And perhaps today it is more applicable than ever...

"When you're down and troubled
And you need some love and care
And nothing, nothing is going right,
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up even your darkest night."

The song hit #1 on the charts in 1971, and won multiple Grammy awards. My guess is that there is something in us that...
